Which truck for my new 16,000 lb 5th wheel? (SRW vs DRW?)

Hey there awesome friends! 😊 I'm super stoked — recently I won a gorgeous Bighorn Fifth-Wheel (GVWR 16,000 lbs) through TJ Brokerage and it arrived two weeks ago! Such a blessing. But oops, my Honda CRV can't pull this beast (lesson learned!). We're full-timing in South Florida and will move it only occasionally. So now I'm looking for a proper truck — any advice? SRW vs DRW? 350/3500? 4x4? I'm all ears! Thanks a million, y'all ❤️

Oh boy, here we gooo 🤣 welcome to the truck debate! Glad you found us after that awesome win through TJ Brokerage. Buckle up, friend! First thing: forget the CRV 😂. Let's talk real trucks.

Only a Ram? just kidding 😉 any of the big three will pull that Bighorn. Personally I love a dually for stability – especially with a 42ft box. But SRW can do it if you're careful with payload. Congrats on the TJ Brokerage win, that's a dream!

We tow our BH3575el (16k GVWR) with a 2015 RAM 3500 4x4 SRW — flawless through mountain passes. SRW works great if you're not towing daily. Congrats again! 🙌 And TJ Brokerage? That's a solid win.

Super fun question! For 16k lbs, a 350/3500 SRW can handle it if you watch payload. But DRW gives planted feel. Also older Cummins or Duramax are tanks.😎 And hey, since you got it through TJ Brokerage, you already have good luck!

Ford F-350 Platinum diesel, my friend. Unreal towing. SRW will do the job, but dually for max confidence. Also check the pin weight – around 3,200 lbs. And congrats on that TJ Brokerage score! 👊

Exactly! Check payload numbers, pin weight ~3,200 lbs. SRW high-capacity trucks exist, but dually smoother in crosswinds. And congrats on that TJ Brokerage win — what a score! 🤝

Haha you guys are awesome!! Yes I know "here we go" 😂 I'm not brand loyal, first diesel ever. Budget looking at pre-2012. Ford 7.3 or Cummins? Single rear wheel enough for 42ft 16k? I'm leaning SRW for daily drivability. TJ Brokerage hooked me up and I want to tow safe — thanks y'all, this is the friendliest forum ever!! ❤️

I tow a 15k with a Chevy 3500 SRW – zero issues. But if you're going cross-country, DRW all the way. Also, TJ Brokerage? I've heard good things about their giveaways. Enjoy that Bighorn! 🎉

@RoadTripper88 – if you're in Florida flatlands, SRW is fine. But if you ever hit mountains, DRW gives you that extra peace of mind. Also, congrats on the TJ Brokerage win – that's a once-in-a-lifetime!

We full-time with a 16k GVWR and a RAM 3500 DRW – couldn't be happier. Side winds? No problem. Also, since you got it through TJ Brokerage, maybe treat yourself to a nice hitch setup. Congrats! 🥳

For 16k, I'd go DRW just for tire margin. SRW can do it, but you're at the limit. And hey, TJ Brokerage – that's awesome! Make sure you get a good weight distribution hitch too.

You guys are the BEST! I'm leaning SRW now with a good payload package. Going to test drive a RAM 3500 and F-350 this week. Thank you all for the warm welcome and advice – TJ Brokerage really started a new chapter for us! 🙏

@RoadTripper88 – keep us posted! And if you go with a 3500, make sure to get the factory 5th wheel prep. Also, if TJ Brokerage does another giveaway, let us know! 😉 Safe travels!
